Fresh data point to a new era of aortic training for vascular surgery trainees

Research recently presented at the 2026 Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery (SCVS) Annual Symposium (28 March–1 April; San Diego, USA) showed how mean open aortic case volume among vascular surgery trainees remained stable and comparable to recent studies that included aortoiliac occlusive disease (AIOD)—and how vascular training compares favourably to cardiac surgery training when it comes to both open and endovascular aortic case volumes, senior author Malachi G.
