Roxwood Medical has announced the expansion of its MicroCross catheter platform with the addition of the Micro14es (extra support) catheter. Micro14es is an extension of the Micro14 catheter, designed for complex peripheral and coronary disease.

Designed in collaboration with key opinion leaders, the Micro14es provides enhanced guidewire support through challenging and tortuous anatomy with an extra supportive tip profile for greater pushability when crossing the target lesion, according to a Roxwood Medical press release.

Compatible with Roxwood Medical’s CenterCross Catheter, the MicroCross platform is comprised of an ultra-low profile shaft featuring variable pitch braid technology and a state-of-the-art lubricious coating. These features allow for superior trackability and guidewire support while accessing tortuous regions of the coronary and peripheral vasculature.

“I was impressed with how easily the new Micro14es was able to navigate small tortuous vessels in the patient’s foot,” comments Jihad Mustapha, Metro Hospital in Wyoming, USA. “The Micro14 and Micro18 have become a core part of our critical limb ischemia toolkit, and the Micro14es is a welcome addition.”

Roxwood Medical president & chief executive officer, Mehrdad Farhangnia, adds, “After the tremendous feedback we have received from clinicians for our Micro14 and Micro18 catheters, we’re excited about the addition of Micro14es. It underscores our commitment to the evolution of our technology for treating patients with complex percutaneous coronary intervention and critical limb ischaemia. Beyond the MicroCross, CenterCross and MultiCross Catheters, we have a rich pipeline of other new tools we plan to bring to the US market in 2016.”
