Frans Moll, professor of Vascular Surgery at the University Medical Center Utrecht, Utrecht, The Netherlands, has received an Honorary Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Thailand (RCST) during the College’s Annual Scientific Congress in Pattaya, Thailand (16–19 July).

Moll, who is also a CX Symposium co-chairman, has trained and coached four junior Thai vascular surgeons in endovascular technologies at the University Medical Center Utrecht over a period of 10 years. He also visited Thailand on a number of occasions to lecture and advise physicians on procedures and clinical research.

“A lifelong professional and personal friendship was born,” Moll told Vascular News.

He added, “The RCST is the ‘mother society’ of all surgical specialties in Thailand, and they come together every July. This year, they decided by intercession of their Vascular Surgery section to award me with the Honorary Fellowship. It was a great moment.”

The award took place during the meeting’s opening ceremony and the deed and gown were given to Moll by the Minister of Public Health of Thailand.
