Lombard Medical has announced that the first commercial procedure in Germany using the Altura endovascular stent graft was successfully completed at the Saarland University Medical Center-Clinic for Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, Saarland, Germany. The procedure follows the late January Leipzig Interventional Course (LINC) in Leipzig, Germany.

“We are honoured to be the first German centre to complete an Altura EVAR procedure following last month’s LINC meeting, and have additional cases scheduled in the coming weeks,” says Alexander Massmann, Saarland University Medical Center. “We found the new Altura stent graft from Lombard easy to use, with a minimal amount of steps required to implant the stent graft. We were especially impressed with the 14F ultra low profile design and the elimination of the gate cannulation step which can be a real procedural time saver.”

Lombard chief executive officer, Simon Hubbert, says, “We are already receiving positive feedback from physicians in the UK and Germany regarding the unique features of Altura…We’d like to thank Massmann and Arno Bücker for this opportunity.”
