AngioScore has announced the launch of the 100mm AngioSculpt percutaneous transluminal angioplasty scoring balloon catheters for the treatment of peripheral artery disease. The devices have received FDA 510(k) clearance for the dilatation of lesions in the iliac, femoral, iliofemoral, popliteal, infrapopliteal, and renal arteries, as well as for the treatment of obstructive lesions of native or synthetic arteriovenous dialysis fistulae.
According to AngioScore, the new AngioSculpt catheters incorporate longer 100mm scoring balloons in diameters of 4, 5, and 6mm and are expected to be particularly useful in treating above-the-knee lesions that are typically encountered in the treatment of complex peripheral artery disease. The devices feature nitinol scoring elements that provide circumferential scoring of plaque, allowing for precise and predictable luminal enlargement across a wide range of lesion types, and have antislippage properties to avoid geographic miss.
