Pablo Del Canto (Hospital Universitario de Cabueñes, Gijón, Spain) talks through a recent case in which Shockwave intravascular lithotripsy (IVL) enabled the successful treatment of an 85-year-old male patient with below-the-knee (BTK) disease. While interventions in this anatomy are often limited by factors including poor vessel expansion and acute recoil, he says, the Shockwave E8 catheter (Shockwave Medical) proved “a really useful tool” here.
