Acute limb ischaemia study: 90-day outcome metrics “were largely the same, if not better, for endovascular-first approaches”

Jayer Chung (Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, USA) speaks to Vascular News about the explosion in percutaneous treatment options for the care of patients with acute limb ischaemia (ALI) in recent years. Chung details a recent multicentre retrospective study he led showing “similarly safe and efficacious” outcomes after both open surgery– and endovascular-first ALI revascularisation. “What’s significant about this is that it sort of tracks our evolution, our learning curve, as we transitioned from largely open first to almost exclusively endovascular first,” he explains.
