Teleflex has received 510(k) marketing clearance for a newly-designed Arrow vascular positioning system (VPS) stylet from the US Food and Drug Administration.
The new design is designed to allow Teleflex to provide a complete offering of single, double and triple lumen pre-loaded, pressure injectable Arrow peripherally inserted central venous catheters (PICC) with Chlorag+ard Technology.
According to Teleflex, eliminating chest X-ray, reducing patient exposure to radiation and providing protection against microbial colonisation and thrombus accumulation on catheter surfaces should be made easier now that the single, double and triple lumen Arrow PICC is available pre-loaded with the stylet.
The Arrow VPS device is designed to replace the need for confirmatory chest X-ray in the presence of a steady Blue Bullseye by using real-time intravascular Doppler, electrocardiogram and advanced algorithmic logic to notify the clinician that the catheter tip has reached the optimal location.
