The European Vascular Course (EVC) recently announced the appointment of a new executive board. The event—held annually in Maastricht, The Netherlands—will now be led by a three-person team of vascular surgeons succeeding Michael Jacobs, who founded the event in 1997.
The newly appointed EVC executive board will be led by Barend Mees (Maastricht UMC+, Maastricht, The Netherlands), joined by Marie Josee van Rijn (Erasmus MC Rotterdam, Rotterdam, The Netherlands) and Çağdaş Ünlü (NoordWest Ziekenhuisgroep Alkmaar, Alkmaar, The Netherlands), and supported by Ernst Jan Broer, chief financial officer.
The upcoming edition of EVC will take place 8–10 March 2026 at MECC Maastricht. A press release on the MECC website reveals that the contract securing MECC Maastricht as the host venue for the next five years was officially signed in early September. The agreement was signed by Mees and Frank Mimpen, commercial director of MECC Maastricht.
