Getinge is investing €3 million in its manufacturing of polyester grafts and patches to treat aneurysmal and occlusive diseases. The investment aims at increasing manufacturing capacity in Getinge’s site in La Ciotat, France.
“We have seen a growing demand from our customers for our vascular grafts portfolio and in order to meet this demand we will expand our facility area and equipment“, says Jocelyn Lebrun, managing director Getinge La Ciotat. “We also estimate that the investment will lead to an increased need for additional personnel, primarily within engineering and manufacturing”.
Today the La Ciotat site employs 270 employees and has 6000m2 facility area including two clean rooms for a total of 900m2.
“The site produces approximately 230,000 units per year, which is estimated to support saving 500 lives per day”, Lebrun continues. “We expect the facility expansion to be ready and operational within the coming years. In the meantime, we will increase our production by adding shifts to help fulfil customer needs”.
