Edited case using LumiGuide, powered by Fiber Optic RealShape (FORS) technology.

For physicians who regularly perform complex aortic procedures, high radiation and limited visibility is one of the challenges. In this video, recorded at the 46th Charing Cross International Symposium on Thursday, 25 April 2024, Frédéric Cochennec (Paris, France takes the audience through an edited case demonstrating how LumiGuide, powered by the FORS technology is able to “reduce radiation and help you during the navigation phase in the aorta,”

The Case:

A patient with a history of aortic root replacement presented a large dissecting thoracic aneurysm extending to the arch. When the anatomy is suitable, these patients are good candidates for a customized branched aortic stent graft. Distal sealing can be obtained using either a false lumen occluder device or a F/BEVAR.

Learning Objectives:
  1. Understand the current tools available for reducing X-ray radiation during complex aortic procedures with concrete examples.
  2. Share the wire tasks required for the procedure and how the FORS-enabled device facilitates cannulations thanks to the 3D visualisation.
  3. Explain the use of Philips LumiGuide, powered by FORS technology and how it may be used to benefit your clinical practice.
