European study aims to provide “snapshot” of current ALI treatment strategies

Florian Enzmann (Innsbruck, Austria) speaks to Vascular News about PROMOTE ALI—a prospective, multicentre observational study focused on lower limb ischaemia.

Acute limb ischaemia (ALI) is “not very well investigated,” the head of endovascular surgery at the Medical University Innsbruck states, adding that most of the available randomised studies are at least 20 years old.

In order to address this lack of evidence, Enzmann describes how the PROMOTE-ALI trial will provide an overview of the current strategies used across Europe to treat ALI patients. A total of 686 patients have been enrolled in the study and analysis is currently underway.

Florian Enzmann spoke to Vascular News during the European Society for Vascular Surgery (ESVS) annual meeting in 2022.
