Cydar Medical has announced a collaboration with Brainlab, enabling its Cydar EV Maps augmented intelligence software to integrate with Brainlab’s Buzz digital information hub.
According to a company press release, this allows endovascular surgeons to use advanced surgical visualisation and machine-learning technology in real time to enhance data-driven decision making during surgical procedures, and across the entire patient journey.
Cydar EV Maps uses next-generation graphics processing unit (GPU) cloud computing to create detailed patient-specific 3D maps of soft tissue for procedure planning, image-guided intra-operative navigation, and post-operative review, the firm add.
Cydar EV Maps will be automatically integrated, displayed, and controlled through Brainlab Buzz to provide surgeons with their preferred operating theatre information and workflows. Buzz 4K visualisation technology will display live x-rays combined with the Cydar EV Maps 3D overlay, enabling surgeons to place a stent-graft faster, easier, and smarter.
Paul Mussenden, CEO of Cydar Medical, said: “We believe that offering the market leading Cydar EV Maps solution on the Brainlab Buzz digital surgery platform, will offer the most cutting-edge and comprehensive solution for endovascular procedure planning, guidance, review and workflow and operative execution. Together we’re providing endovascular clinicians with access to ground-breaking and transformative technologies.”
Stefan Vilsmeier, president and CEO, Brainlab, added: “The Brainlab partnership with Cydar Medical capitalises on our shared vision to advance visualization and data-driven decision making by leveraging industry leading technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, augmented reality and spatial computing. We are thrilled to enter the endovascular field with Cydar Medical as we work together to transform surgery and improve outcomes for patients.”
