Tilo Kölbel (Hamburg, Germany) speaks to CX Live about new, innovative developments within devices and recent results of large studies producing data that poses “interesting” updates to the field of vascular surgery.

Focusing in on the aortic community and areas of future emphasis, he discusses the difficulties they confront when selecting appropriate reinterventions for patients returning after previous care. Additionally, he outlines the conversation surrounding the suitability of new devices, observing the “constant development” toward more complex secondary and tertiary treatments in aortic repair.

Reflecting on the exciting research being presented at the symposium, Kölbel pinpoints presentations including the use of bioabsorbable scaffolds to prevent type 2 endoleak, and the option of transcaval embolisation of type 2 endoleak.
